Philanthropy & Atlantis Concert Earth

Nuno Bettencourt shares the same passion he has for guitar with philanthropy. This was a chief motivator in Nuno’s coordination of the successful Atlantis Concert For Earth in Azores, Portugal. Nuno is a strong supporter for helping make a positive impact with climate change and help save the earth.

Azores, Portugal.

What is the Atlantis Concert for Earth

The Atlantis Concert for Earth is a non-profit concert that promotes global conservation. The concert took place in Sete Cidades in Azores, Portugal on July 22-23, 2022. The concert featured performances by Black Eyed Peas, Pitbull, Stone Temple Pilots, Bush, Mod Sun, and Girlfriends. The event is in partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and the Blue Azores, a program for the conservation and sustainable use of the Azores sea – or The Ocean Cleanup – which developed a technology for cleaning the oceans.

The concert was designed as a zero- to low emission hybrid event. Where live performances are combined with virtual performances. Hereby dramatically reducing the event’s footprint compared to a conventional live festival. Any remaining carbon emissions from the event are offset with support from A Greener Festival, a not-for-profit company committed to helping events, festivals and venues around the world to reduce environmental impacts.

These days, the words Climate and Climate Crisis trigger so many different emotions from all walks of life, and seems to be dividing us more and more. “It shouldn’t matter who you voted for, At Concert for Earth we will not judge what your political color is internationally or here in the U.S. if you are Republican or Democrat, Black, white, Hispanic, rich or poor. Because whatever we are, whether we like it or not, we share the same air, the same water and the same soil.

We have all heard about the urgency, but FEAR is not the answer.

Instead,  together during Concert for Earth we are taking our universal language and power of music to celebrate the Conservationists and Entrepreneurs from around the world who are game changers leading the way with real, tangible solutions to flip the current narrative of climate and conservation from blame, anger, and doom; to positivity and hope by shining a light on inspirational SOLUTIONS to get us back in balance with our planet.

It’s time to stop telling everyone how we are all going to die, but instead show them how we’re all going to live.”

With artists like Black Eyed Peas, Pitbull , Sting, Stone Temple Pilots and many more, to celebrate our “SOLUTiONISTS”. The true Rock Stars for Earth. Giving us hope and answers in a time where most main stream networks and socials are mostly spreading the crisis, the problem, The most important element being that EVERYONE is invited.

We don’t all have many things in common in our cultures and tribes but I do know this. We all do have the most important thing in common that we can all come together on.  Our kids, our brothers and sisters, moms and dads, our loved ones.

We can surely put down our political, social and emotional weapons, to meet in the middle and stop the blame, guilt and judgement that just divides us even more and turns people away from the basic common sense in conversation. Let’s get this right for our families. For Ourselves. For our shared home. Our gorgeous Mother Earth.

Nuno Bettencourt

Bettencourt first came up with the idea to throw a festival inside a dormant volcano seventeen years ago, while canoeing on Lago Azul with a friend. The idea percolated for some time while Bettencourt did what he does, write songs and produce tracks for the likes of Robert Palmer, Perry Farrell and Janet Jackson.
